Week 1: 09/09/24 - 12/09/24

Outline of recording/rehearsal session:

A brief outline of what happened in the session this week, remember to give examples

Monday the 9th- we did our first run through of I'm in love with a monster and we

thought it sounded abit plain and boring, so we started to talk about changing the song to

build more tension throughout the song. And to make the song sound better for example

we talked about adding a buildup in the song. To give it more tension

Tuesday the 10th – this was our first run through of our adapted song and it went well

although we had bits that we needed to improve on but all together it went well. We

were still making tweaks and adaptations to the song at this time, but it started to sound

a lot cleaning the longer we practiced playing this song. And started to come together and

then we performed to the other band that was with us in the studio at the time and then

we got constructive criticism from them so we can take that into the next rehearsal.

Wednesday the 11th – we learned how to coil cables properly and how to store cables

and learnt more about risks assessments and what might be a risk when you are on stage

or around the stage and what might be a hazard to the people on stage. And how to

overcome these risks and get rid of the risks and if not reduce the risks.

Thursday the 12th – we talked about what will go on in the course with and when the next

gig is, we also talked about what musical terms mean for example harmony is the

instrument or instruments that play chords to accompany the Rythm. As our band didn't

have a bass player Oscar joined are band and is now playing bass for us. We also tidied up

the song again as we practiced today.

Problems and issues that appeared:

Outline any issues or problems you and/or

your group faced throughout the session Solutions: Give examples of how you were able to work with and adapt to overcome these issues

We need to work out the transitions

throughout the song, so the song sounds a

lot smoother and there Arnt as many

pauses in the song, so it doesn't sound like

a mess. We did not have anyone that played bass, so Oscar is now playing bass for us. This has helped the song have more body to it as we now have the low parts of the song instead of just the tops and the mids of the song.

The dynamics need to change in parts

throughout the song because at the

moment all the dynamics are very flat

throughout the song, so we need to make

some changes to them to give the song

more depth. I couldn't play the drum fills that are on the original track of I'm in love with a monster, so I adapted the fills to fit the song and keep the beat going.

Reflection:

What have you learned from your session and how has this impacted your project?

I have learned my bands strengths a weakness and now I know how to adapt my part of the song in a way that everyone can follow along with what I'm doing.

Targets for next week:

Provide at least two targets you want to achieve next week – give examples of how you

plan to achieve these targets.

Change the dynamics to go softer and louder in different parts of the song as it sounds

very flat at the moment and there are not very many changes in the son

Week 2: 16/09/24 - 19/09/24

Outline of recording/rehearsal session:

A brief outline of what happened in the session this week, remember to give examples

Monday 16th this was our first day with another singer in our band, so we were able to

advance our songs further adding another singer to the songs. Then we talked about the

singers splitting up the songs, so the songs don't sound plain and simple.

Tuesday 17th at the studio finished I'm in love with a monster then we started to go

through hungry like a wolf with 2 singers instead of one and we also needed to talk about

what we were going to do in the breaks of the song, so we all don't stop. And leave a long

pause in the middle of the song. Then we performed Infront of the other band that was in

the studio with us and got some feedback of Liam and we took that feedback into our

next rehearsal.

Wednesday 18th – we started to go through our 3rd song which is perhaps vampires is abit

stong but... by the arctic monkeys however we did get stuck halfway through the song so

we all decided to put our instruments down and listen to the song

Thursday 19th we started to look at our 3rd song which we found a little bit difficult as it is

a different time signature than the 2 other songs ‘I'm in love with a monster and hungry

like the wolf ‘ are both 4/4 and ‘perhaps vampires is abit strong but...’

New member of the band she did not know

all the songs She went into a separate room and listen to the songs. She said she was going to practice at home

The arctic monkeys song had confusing

tmings Work on the timings in the arctic monkeys songs as the time signiture changes

The duran duran bridge was hard

Reflection:

What have you learned from your session and how has this impacted your project?

We all needed to go away and work on ou songs

Working on our confidence when

Week 3: 23/09/24 - 16/09/24

Outline of recording/rehearsal session:

Monday 23rd our final song ‘perhaps vampires is a bit strong but...’ by arctic monkeys was

pretty much finished we just had to work on a few little bits of the song for example the

start of the drum solo and the ending. so, the drummer harry and the 2 guitarists Gabe

and Ryan worked on that part of the song.

Tuesday 24th on Tuesday we started going through our whole setlist starting with ‘ I'm in

love with a monster’- fifth harmony then ‘hungry like the wolf’- Duran Duran then

‘perhaps vampires is abit strong but...’ - arctic monkeys. However, we struggled on the

transitions between songs and the instrumental parts of the songs. So that's what we said

we would work on the next day

Wednesday 25th we went through our setlist again trying to see in what ways we could

improve the songs. Then we looked at how to shorten the transitions between our songs.

Then Eva and Erika the singers looked at how to improve their stage presences.

Thursday 26 th on Thursday we went through our setlist again and our singers thought of

an idea of what to do at the end of the arctic monkey's song to engage the crowd. And

during the instrumental section. And settled when our band will be performing on the day

of the gig.

There is a little gap in-between the end of

the drum solo and the start of the next

part, so we talked about filling that out as

we all just stop currently in the song. So, it

sounds very pieced together and doesn't

sound clean at the moment. We started to go into the other songs without a gap in between them so we wouldn't keep the audience waiting.

The instrumental of the arctic monkey's

song Went over it as many times as we could until we were happy. Still needs improvements.

Stage presence for the singers. Eva and Erika worked on ways to include the audience and act out the lyrics.

Reflection:

What have you learned from your session and how has this impacted your project?

Constructive critism can make your performance better if you take it snd work on it for

your work

Provide at least two targets you want to achieve next week – give examples of how you

Transitioning from song to song The instrumental parts of all the songs

Week 4: 30/09/24 - 03/10/24

Outline of recording/rehearsal session:

Monday 30th on Monday we secured all the songs on our set list that we need to perform

so we decided to work on transitions between ‘I'm in love with a monster’ - fifth harmony

and ‘hungry like a wolf’ - Duran Duran we didn't get a full recording of today's session, but

we recorded the first song.

Tuseday 31st we got through the whole setlist with decent transitions between songs. All

we need to work on in the future is our stage presences getting the sudience involved and

keepig our timings correct so we have enough times between songs so it doesnt feel like

we are jumping to the next song we unfortaunatly did not go to the studio due to staffing

issues but we still made it work in the hub.

On wednesday 1st we went throug the setlist because we got all 3 of the songs down at

this time we startted to exploere diverse ways we could better the songs including adding

stage presense and involving the audience.

On thursday 2nd we ran through the setlist and tigthen up our stage presnese and how we

can involve the audeince
